21st September 2021 - The Wood For The Trees
We are commencing a new Bible study series called The Wood For The Trees. It will be held every fortnight on a Tuesday from 21st September starting at 7 pm with refreshments served from 6.45 pm.
The purpose of the study is to show how the books of the Bible fit together revealing God's mind and plans.
Please come along if you are able. Alternatively a recording of the studies can be found here.
20th September 2021
At the beginning of September we returned to meetings being held in Church. The Sunday morning meeting is no longer broadcast via Zoom.
You are very welcome to come and join us to praise and worship our Lord and hear what He has to say to us. Although face coverings are no longer mandatory you are welcome to wear one should you feel more comfortable. We are also encouraging the congregation to spread out to maintain distancing.
Copies of the talk are available on request on either CD or DVD or can be viewed in the Sermons section of this website.

26th March 2020
Studies and Sermons
During this time of stay at home and self isolation we will be posting a series of sermons and studies on the website. Some will be audio only, some will be audio and video. Please use the Sermons and Studies buttons on the menu bar above.
The first post is the start of a study in Acts given by Stephen Williams.
We will be loading new files as often as we can so please check back on a regular basis.
Coronavirus
Following the guidance given at the Prime Ministers press conference on Monday 16th March on the gathering of people and the further clarification on Churches given by the Secretary for Health in Parliament, the Leadership and Trustees of Shirley Community Church have taken the decision to close the Church building with immediate effect.
This means that all of the meetings (Sunday Morning, Prayer Meeting, Coffee Morning, Little Lambs, Ladies and Men’s Breakfasts) are suspended until further notice. In addition all small group meetings held in various homes are suspended. We feel that as part of our duty of care to the Church this is a sensible measure to take.
We understand that the social distancing and self-isolation guidance issued by the Government may cause some people concern. However the closing of the Church building does not mean the closing of the Church and we are putting arrangements in place so that everyone in the Church will be contacted on a regular basis by at least one leader. In addition we encourage you to stay in contact with as many people within the Church as you can using the telephone, email, WhatsApp and other social media methods. You may even consider sending them a letter or card.
This is a new experience for us all and the guidance and our response to it will change on a regular basis. It will take an effort by all of us to stay in touch with each other but we ask you to make that effort. Please keep praying for each other and for the situation in the country, indeed in the world.
14th March 2020
The next Ladies Breakfast will be on Saturday 14th March at 9.30 am. The speaker will be Sheila Leech.
Sheila has recently started a new position with FEBA but for nearly 30 years worked with Reach Beyond (formally HCJB). She first came to the Church in 1975 where she was saved and after going to Birmingham Bible Institute went out as a missionary to Ecuador.
Her full story can be read in her book "God Knows What I'm Doing Here".
29th February 2020
On Saturday 29th February we are holding an induction service for our new Pastor Gelu Ciorna and our new Team Minister Kijung Kim. There is a fellowship tea at 4.30 pm and the meeting starts at 6.00 pm.
Please come along to support Gelu and Kijung as we formally welcome them both into the Church.
